Lugosi Lives Eternal!

Just because I felt like it. Bela Lugosi, rendered in vine charcoal, as Count Dracula from my favorite movie of all time, ABBOTT & COSTELLO MEET FRANKENSTEIN. I consider Bela's performance in this film to actually be superior to the original 1931 DRACULA.

Recovery Time, Poker Time!

Sorry for being away for a bit, but I've been recuperating from some surgery. I'm not fully recovered, but am well on the mend. I do have new artwork to share, but first I'd like to travel back about a decade...to the drawing that would become the quintessential Sketchy Things piece. "Four Monsters Playing Poker" was created as a tee-shirt design for a Las Vegas model convention called ImagineNation. The idea came from the convention promoter, my old pal Rob Rotundi, and eventually the famous Vegas sign was incorporated into the design. But this sketch became my fans favorite. I have sold more prints of this image than any other.
I still get a chuckle whenever I look at it...

Lugosi On The Web

Okay, well, not the world wide web, but a spider's web. This piece was another pencil/computer hybrid. Bela Lugosi Jr. actually enjoyed this one enough to add it to the licensing package for his dad's image. The background, by the way, was an actual orb-weaver spider web from my backyard...the spider is cleverly concealed behind Bela's noggin.
